Amy Dixon: A Vibrant Expression of Color and Life

Amy Dixon’s paintings are filled with energy and joy. Her spontaneous brushwork and bold use of color reflect her love for life. Her art, full of rich layers and textures, shows her passion for creativity. Dixon’s canvases are often bright and lively, expressing her infectious enthusiasm. She loves to play with color and often adds a surprising “pop color,” a bold contrast that brings life to her work.

More about Amy Dixon

“I am always thinking about how color speaks,” says Dixon. Her paintings are a response to her natural instinct to create, capturing moments of energy and movement. Dixon finds inspiration in the world around her, drawing from her experiences and the places she loves, like Venice. She describes the city as “moored on a sea of timeless beauty.”

Dixon’s work has been praised by Southwest Art Magazine for its joyful spirit and direct connection to everyday life. Her paintings reflect the colors, moods, and moments that inspire her. Whether painting a familiar subject or exploring new ideas, her art is always about emotion, color, and the beauty of the present moment.

Born in Monroe, Louisiana, Dixon studied at Newcomb College of Tulane University, earning her BA in Studio Art and Painting. She also studied in Florence, Italy, and trained with notable artists Wolf Kahn and Kim English. Now living in Colorado with her family—and her beloved Golden Retriever—Dixon continues to create art that resonates with both collectors and casual viewers alike.

Her work can be found in both private and corporate collections, including Blue Cross of Louisiana, St. Regis Hotel in Atlanta, and Del Frisco’s in Denver. Traditional Home Magazine, Southwest Art Magazine, and the Aspen Times have all featured her work. Amy Dixon’s art is a celebration of color, life, and emotion. Each piece invites viewers to feel the energy and passion she pours into her paintings. Through her work, she transforms everyday experiences into moments of beauty and joy.
