One day many years ago I was walking on our island beach where the native tribe of Samish had lived and fished and I had this vision of a village woman coming to the shore carrying stones.  She would gift them to the Salish Sea and in return she would be gifted with salmon to take back to her village.  These stones come from the south beach of Guemes Island, their traditional home of Samish Indigenous Peoples.  Their stories are often much like the vision that came to me on that beach walk.
