Deborah R Hill is a classically trained painter, born in the United States. She received her BFA with a concentration in painting from the University of Buffalo at Buffalo NY. Deborah's art is characterized by her attempt to create a sense of familiarity through subject matter while introducing abstract elements by means of color, brushwork, and paint application.
One of her notable ongoing bodies of work is called The Crossroads Series, which focuses on the subject of mobility. The series explores the idea that mobility is not limited to physical action but can also be a "state of mind" that is influenced by circumstances. Deborah uses the horse as a means to explore the idea of mobility since it was one of the first ways that humans had access to greater mobility.
Deborah's work has been well received, and her art can be found in various private collections across the United States and internationally, including England, Capetown South Africa, and Canada. Her work can also be found in public collections in places such as Palm Beach, Florida, New York, Charleston, South Carolina, and Long Island, New York, among others.
In addition to her painting career, Deborah has also had experience in residential and commercial design. From 1997 to 2010, she ran a business called Deborah R Hill Interiors, which focused on creating aesthetically pleasing spaces for clients. In 2010, she returned to painting full-time and has continued to produce stunning artwork ever since.
Deborah is affiliated with various artist organizations, including the American Impressionist Society (AIS), Oil Painters of America (OPA), Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club (CAG), and the Buffalo Society of Artists (BSA).
